Park City real estate, Resorts, and Villas
Park City, Utah is a world-renowned ski resort town. Its popularity
has increased since hosting several events during the 2002 Olympic Winter
Games. Robert Redford’s Sundance Film Festival calls it home.
At ParkCityVillas.com, soon-to-be visitors, and potential Park City
residents, will find everything they need to know about recreational
opportunities and the Park City, UT real estate market. This site is
rife with details on Park City resorts as well as tips for choosing
Park City hotels.
Around 1860, prospectors discovered silver in the hills near what is
now the Deer Valley resort. Soon after, a silver rush was on, and Park
City was established. After nearly a century of successful silver mining,
lodes became less productive and residents began to realize that there
was another precious resource in the hills. This beautiful, delicate
powder would come to be known as the greatest snow on earth.
The Park City Mountain Resort began operations around 1960, and another
resort, which would later become The Canyons followed shortly after.
Suddenly, the flailing Park City real estate market had new life. Park
City Utah hotels began popping up, along with Park City condos. The
popularity of winter sports grew, and the once tiny mining town grew
with it.
In 1981, the Deer Valley resort opened. It took an innovative approach
to resort management by offering the same sterling service guests might
expect from any fine hotel. It has consistently continued that tradition
and is perennially rated among the top ski resorts in North America.
It’s now wonder that Deer Valley real estate is among the most
exclusive in the nation. Most Deer Valley hotels hold themselves to
a higher level than similar hotels elsewhere because of the precedent
set by the resort. During certain times of the season a Deer Valley
home or Deer Valley condo may be rented out for several thousand dollars
a week.
Particularly in January, when the Sundance film festival arrives, Park
City rentals are in incredibly high demand. Many residents will choose
this time of year to vacation, renting out their Park City homes or
Park City villas to tourists for a couple weeks, at outlandishly high
rates. There are an estimated 5,700 lodging units (or 21,500 pillows),
in and around the city and all of them will be full. It’s hard
to believe, considering that there are only 7,000 full-time residents
in Park City and less than 30,000 in all of Summit County.
Although it may seem a world away, Park City is very easy to find.
It’s less than 40 miles from the Salt Lake City International
Airport. It’s nestled in the Wasatch Mountain Range, which is
part of the mighty Rockies. Fortunately for some, and not-so-much for
others, it is no longer a secret. This once quiet mountain town has
changed greatly over the years. There’s no doubt that it will
continue to do so. Check back often with ParkCityVillas.com to stay
posted.
